“Camping trip”

Whoa…this was the best camping trip ever. The trip was so dangerous that everyone backed out except one brave adventurer: Kenny. Lolz Keith was supposed to come but we gave up waiting for him. In the end he got "ensnared" by his mom. So me and Kenny just rented bikes and cycled for 1 1/2 hours. Talking about cars and stuff. It’s very interesting talking to Kenny about cars, it’s like he knows practically everything about them. From Need For Speed Carbon to turbo-charged engines…Siao liao.
After cycling and complaining about how our butts hurt we slowly made our way to East Caost Hawker centre. Me tell you, the freaking bikes they rent there the gear all spoil one lor… highest gear fell like lowest gear. Siao liao alreddy…pedal like mad.
So at the hawker centre called keith to come again and he said 15 minutes but we waited over 45 minutes for him but as i said he got grounded so he didn’t come in the end. After our meal, we were thirsty and i volunteered to go buy sugar cane juice. Walk around the whole bloody place and it seems like the whole hawker center is hunder some sort of conspiracy. $1.40 for a cup of sugar cane!!! WHAT THE! And it’s a cup not the huge glass mug they give you at other hawker centres. Siao liao. In the end we didn’t buy, but we came up with this podcast Russel Peter style…Check it out…
I went to hawker center, some of you may know east coast hawker centre (all laugh). I went there I saw this sugar cane drink i ask "How much?"
"one fourty"
"How about a dollar?" You know how chinese people tell you no? They’ll give you the most vulgar no you heard in your life, like you told them to hang themselves or something?
"How about a dollar?"
"Wha siao liao lah, cannot! I can’t do one dollar, i do one dollar today tomorrow you come my shop close down."
"I’m not paying one fourty for this"
"Hang on I talk to my assistant. One second"
"siu apieurhgb apeiurgh paiurgh a"
"You look like nice guy, I give you best price. One fourty"
"But what the? You didn’t lower the price!"
"Of course I didn’t"
"Alright that’s it, I’m not buying it."
"Hey! Be a man"
"What the…"
"Be a man, do the right thing."
"I am doing the right thing."
"Maybe you don’t buy the drink now, you walk around the centre, you don’t see the drink as good as mine you come back and say "I buy for one fourty" I say no…Price gone up maybe one fifty (it was $1.20 the last time I came here.) Be a man!
Haha, so anyway after dinner set up the half tent and play 2p taiti. Kenny is a noob at it. Ask him what’s his smallest card he say two of diamonds I got a shock. He thought he was playing german bridge…Wha liao eh…Anyway it was good time spent with a good friend. We went home at 9 plus. No fire because the wood was wet…Damn

Reflecting on IP life

It’s been one year in IP life and I feel that i should put my feelings in ink…or in here…heh heh.
It’s been a long year. A tumultuous year with ups and downs. But life’s never a smooth sailing isn’t it? Now when I look back, i feel the satisfaction that this year is finally over and a great quest completed with rewards aplenty. But somehow, right now, life suddenly meant much more to me. I always felt that my life is "disposable", ready to give it up in a snap of a finger. But if I were so ready for my life to be terminated, then i can never feel the preciousness of life. It’s something that I’m trying to learn. In this year, much knowledge has been gained and i have grown much wiser as well. Apart from any knowledge imparted from teachers, I want to record what I have learned myself in this year in the IP.
I always felt pain when I enter the class. Everyone turns around to look who it is and then there’s the "Oh, it’s you" look and everyone’s back to their own business. The only greeting I get is from either Kenny or Keith with the familiar "Joo…". I found out that here in the IP that not everyone can be on top. On social rankings there are those who can naturally be on top and those who naturally are at the bottom. I’m fine with that.
I feel that the most important thing that I learned is that treating your neighbour as yourself doesn’t always work. Not everyone is like you. I used to use myself as a benchmark on how to treat people that I just met. What I would like to happen I do for them, what I don’t want to happen to myself I don’t do to others. Well, let’s say that it doesn’t always happen in a positive manner. For example if someones love language is physical contact, I tell you that touching anyone or being "touched" is out of the question. I got a fright when someone touched my hand on purpose once. it was YIKES! HANDS OFF! feeling. So…in the end it’s compromise. Win-win is always the best solution.
Another thing that I learnt is that things change, especially people. I have this little wooden piece at home with these beautiful words written on it:
Some people come into our lives and quickly go
Some people comeinto our lives, stay for a while, leave footprints in our hearts and we are never the same
How true can it get? There’s one thing though, this person who changes you can also be the one that quickly leaves as well. One cannot expect people to stay the same forever, even if you do. They may be very close to you and then suddenly leave. It’s painful to see a close friend get distant from you because of a force that you cannot control. And there are those who are distant but become best of friends in a while. And alas, there are those who never change as well. People who hurt you can be your close friends. Those who love you can be as distant as the sky. People always say treasure your friends before they leave and stuff like that. I’ll say treasure your friends before they change.
Something that I perfected in the IP is to not show your true colours, never say what you truely feel, never show your emotions. Why? Because I tell you people will hate you for it. Unless you do what they want, you’re an enemy. Furthermore, why do you want to be yourself for? It doesn’t pay I tell you. My advice to myself is to keep it to yourself. As Dr Sid said in "Final Fantasy:The spirits within", keep it in your head, anything can be used and will be used against you.
Ever felt your life was a joke? Empty and meaningless? Well, this year has been a joke but I had a good laugh.

IndiE venture week…

Whew, thank goodness it’s over. It was tiring and metally draining but it’s hell lot of fun I must say. Esp, because of my group members. They are simply teh best! My group doesn’t have a name and I suay suay become gp leader. I got this unique ability to kena arrow to be the leader. aka Sai Kang Warrior… Haiz. Ohwell. A job thats worth doing is worth doing well. Top group from the 3 categories (Forces of nature, inflection and abra onsas) will win a $50 gelare ice-cream voucher. I’m not a big fan of ice cream but hey she wants it so might as well work for it right? Haha. Anyway I got my first choice and got into Forces of nature, together with Caitlin, Cui Yue, Yin Hong and Zhai Juan. We’re supposed to come up with a structure that will block the tsunami from reaching the city in this little town called Hilo in one of the hawaiian islands and to come up with an evac plan for the residents and tourists. To sum everything up I shall just write about the end products and the results of our labour.
It was really blood and sweat man. Alot of hard work went into this project. For our structure, we literally pwned the rest. Out of 250 pts we scored 210. The test was a water spray spraying at your structure for 30s. Toy soldiers will be placed around your structure and you have to save the soldiers! So we pwned man…the other groups only had around 150? Yeah, we own!
But presentation-wise it wasn’t so good. We didn’t win the vouchers because of this. We’re a bunch of IT idiots who can’t come up with a descent powerpoint. So we turned the whole thing into a skit insted. It worked well and we got into the top 3 groups in our category. Whcih means we have to present again but to the IP cohort instead of the teachers.
That’s good and bad.
At the end, we lost to Perle’s group. Their powerpoint was superb and I think they should’ve won so congrats and congrats to the other winners too. Enjoy your ice-cream…
