Jean Yip…YipEE!!!

Hahaz day 3 of helmsman week. Today we’re supposed to be "Changing context"… In other words, go out there and see what you can pick up and apply to your problem. The IP cohort was split into 4 groups, The places they were going to are Alexander Hospital, NLB, Jean Yip academy and Hotel 1921. I wanted to go to the hospital and hotel but ended up with Jean Yip so might as well make the best out of it. We set off at 8+, reached United square at also 8+ but the academy only opens at 10, so we stone at Mcdonalds…While others were having breakfast, we were like drooling all over because I was saving up for the double fillet o’ fish…HAhaz. Finally we managed to get into the academy…The husband of Jean Yip, Melvin Wee was going to have a dialogue session with us…Once inside, you see 3-4 rows of seats for ppl to cut hair, you know that type of tables with the barber seat? Yah like that, further in there was some space for us to sit (on chairs) and we had our "dialogue" session…

So Melvin shared with us a little about Jean Yip’s history philosophy and goals…I think I took home alot of stuff, he said alot of meaningful things that we can apply…

The best was the win-win-win situation, customer is happy, employee is happy and the company benefits as a whole… He also said that developing our strengths should be our priority. Our weaknesses secong priority. Because we focus on our weaknesses so much, we always see that others are better than us and gradually our strengths will become our weaknesses. And they don’t focus on individuality, their alleged secret of succes is that they work as a team, everyone is included and they share experiences and knowledge. That’s why they’re so succesful…

Haha after that they gave all of us COMPLIMENTARY haircuts by their students…Haha. I went to cut but in the end cut already still look like never cut…And they dunno how to gel hair one lor…Anyhow gel, make my hair look even worse…But I think they did a good job after all. Still got shampoo my hair some more…HAhaz. They are trainees after all, we’re providing them with experience…They may be the next hairstylist master for all you know. And ALOT of ppl went to cut their hair…I think all the 1-3 ppl cut their hair except kenny. Many were dissapointed but haha, Yin Hong was the only one so far that likes her newly cut hair…Hahaz

Today was really an eye-opening experience. I believe that many non-IP students would have gotten this chance to visit places like this…Haha.

IP life suddenly just got better
